New testing equipment: DSC Analysis

In August 2016, the DMRC put a DSC Analysis (Netzsch DSC 214 Polyma) into operation. The new testing equipment allows for an extended thermal analysis of polymers used for both extrusion based and laser/powder based Additive Manufacturing processes. Measurements are performed for quality assurance, development of new materials as well as analyses of thermal effects like melting/recrystallization temperature and enthalpy, crystallinity and heat capacity. The system is capable for heating rates of up to 500 K/min and is currently equipped with nitrogen and oxygen as purge gases.
