District government submits funding decision for the "iAMnrw-Materials" research project

With 5.34 million euros, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the European Union are supporting a new research project of Paderborn University for the development of innovative, application-adapted materials for Additive Manufacturing.

On Wednesday, 29 August, District President Marianne Thomann-Stahl handed over a corresponding funding decision to the responsible professors at the DMRC. Within the framework of the project "Industrial Additive Manufacturing in North Rhine-Westphalia" (iAMnrw-Materials), the provided funds will be invested in construction measures, equipment and personnel for the processing of research projects.

On the one hand, production processes for the manufacture of polymer powders for the process Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) will be developed and examined entirely under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Schmid (Particle Technology Group, PVT) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Schöppner (Vice President for Teaching, Studies and Quality Management at Paderborn University and Kunststofftechnik Paderborn, KTP). Under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mirko Schaper (Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, LWK), the development of innovative and application-adapted alloys for Additive Manufacturing in the field of metallic materials will be pursued.
